Since summer 2012 she has lived and worked as a costume and stage designer in Mainz, Germany.
She gained her Bachelor of Fashion Design degree after studying to be a costume and fashion designer at the University of Applied Sciences Pforzheim in Germany.
She then graduated from London College of Fashion with a Masters in Arts- Fashion Design and Technology. For her final Master’s collection she was awarded with the Bavarian State prize for Young Fashion Designers in Munich.
Before, during and after this she gained experience in different theatres, such as at State Theatre Mainz, Vienna Opera and Theatre Dortmund where she worked for two seasons as a costume assistant for opera and ballet.
During this time she created costumes and stage designs for various plays such as a project for the artist duo Lundahl&Seitl performed at Hamburger Kunsthalle, Stadtmuseum Berlin, National Museum Stockholm and at the Salzburg Festival. Further projects followed for the Ballet Dortmund, under the direction of Xin Peng Wang, for Benjamin Millepied and for the Young Opera and the Young Theatre Dortmund.
She broadened her knowledge and experience abroad living for two and a half years in London. There she worked as a pattern and design assistant for two seasons with fashion designer Hussein Chalayan who is known for his artistic and conceptual work. Her profession often brought her to Asia, where she stayed for five years in the Philippines with her parents. During her studies she did a seven-month internship in Bangkok, at Studio Léa where she gained knowledge about silk. Since 2010 she tutors in illustration and pattern cutting at CIDI-Chanapatana International Design Institute in Bangkok.

2010 – 2012
Jula worked from February to April 2011 as a tutor in pattern cutting and illustration at CIDI-Chanapatana International Design Institute in Bangkok. After that she worked as permanent costume assistant at Theatre Dortmund and was in charge of large opera and ballet stage plays, such as Hamlet, Swan Lake, as well as guest pieces by George Balanchine, William Forsythe, Christian Spuck and Mauro Bigonzetti. She assisted important Opera pieces such as the Flying Dutchman, Norma, Così fan tutte.During this period she was allowed to design her own costumes for Theatre Dortmund. Therefore a ballet evening, Identities, was created using her costumes and décor that the ballet director Xin Peng Wang had choreographed. Furthermore the ballet stage play Sarabande by Benjamin Millepied and the costume design for the first co-production of the Young Opera and the Young Theatre Dortmund was successfully developed.
In addition she created costumes for the family musical Alice in Wonderland for an open air theatre in Coesfeld, Germany. On the occasion of Kleist Year 2011 she designed and made a costume and room installation for the double exhibition Kleist: Crisis and Experiment at the Ephraim Palais, Berlin. Costumes for The White Horse Inn were designed by her for Theatre Luzern and was nominated for Prix Juste-au-Corps 2012. Since the summer of 2012 she has worked as a freelance costume designer based in Mainz and has worked successfully as a production organizer for the big ballet piece Dream of the Red Chamber by Xin Peng Wang.
2006 – 2009
An internship at the Vienna costume studio Art for Art gave her the opportunity to work for the Vienna Opera and to assist in the two big operas Madame Butterfly and Moses and Aron. She went on to receive a scholarship from ASA and went to live and work at Almaty in Kazakhstan. Her task was to organise and teach traditional felt makers how to design and develop felted products. Referring to this local market research, an autumn-winter collection of scarves and cuffs developed together. After her stay in Kazakhstan she moved to London to study her Masters in fashion design and technology at London College of Fashion. She graduated with distinction and won the Unilever Award and the Bavarian state prize for young designers.
Following this she created the first set and costume designs for artist duo Lundahl & Seitl, for the performance My Voice that was presented at BAC-Battersea Arts Centre at London, as well as Symphony of a Missing Room at the National Museum Stockholm, Sweden. As assistant of design and pattern cutting she worked for the London based fashion designer Hussein Chalayan and took part in the Paris Fashion show S/S 2009 and S/W 2009/10. In this way she developed her knowledge in draping and pattern design.
2000 – 2005
In summer 2000 she completed her A-levels at Bad Kreuznach after which she gained her first experience as a trainee in costume-making at Theatre Mainz, with the musical Evita.
To gain more understanding in sewing and pattern cutting she took part in a special course in Ladies Dress Making at the temple Wat Tatong in Bangkok. For a further three months she worked as an intern in an industrial tailoring company at Bad Kreuznach. In 2001 she started her studies in Fashion Design at University of Applied Sciences Pforzheim. During this time she did a seven-month internship in Bangkok, at Studio Léa, a Unesco award-winning organisation, that produces and deals with silk fabric. Jula Reindell was allowed to design a whole collection that was showcased in a fashion show. In 2005 she graduated successfully with a Diploma in Fashion Design and had the great opportunity to present her final collection with four other students in a fashion show at MAK-Austrian Museum of Applied Arts in Vienna. For her presentation she collaborated with dancers from the Tanzquartier and met the dancer Ottilia Gaurean who asked her to create costumes for a dance piece at Tanzquartier, Vienna.
